Today, Bank Mandiri and Telkomsel launch the first mobile ATM service using technology provided by eMobile Pte Ltd that enables customers to pay bills, purchase prepaid top up vouchers, withdraw cash, transfer funds, pay for airline tickets, and send cash electronically over the mobile phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
With kartuHalo navigator64 Telkomsel, Bank Mandiri's account holders will be able to pay for their purchases and at the same time withdraw cash directly from their account at any merchants with an mATM Logo inside their shop.
At the moment, there are more than 3,000 merchants who have registered for the mATM program in the greater Jakarta. The number is expected to reach 10,000 nationwide by the end of 2005.
"Telkomsel network's extensive coverage throughout Indonesia, combined with the mATM service is going to be the largest ATM network to serve the Indonesian public." said Yuen Kuan Moon, Telkomsel's commercial director.
Participating mATM Merchants will be using mobile phones equipped with Telkomsel's Mobile Point-of-Sale (MPOS) SIM card in place of the standard EDC terminals to accept payments, dispense cash, and send electronic cash on behalf of their customers.
"This new innovative service, the first of its kind in the world, represents Bank Mandiri's ongoing commitment to gain higher customer loyalty." said Omar S. Anwar, Bank Mandiri's Consumer Banking Director.
